| As best I can figure this tunnel dates to the Civil War era here where Tennessee, Virginia and Kentucky meet. The line is still active, mainly for bringing Appalachian coal out of the area. I was standing in Tennessee while taking this picture, the portal shown is in Virginia, and the other end of the tunnel is in Kentucky. |
