UP #202 "Willie James"
Title:  UP #202 "Willie James"
Description:  Union Pacific 150th Anniversary Train. UP #202: Crew Car “Pacific Domain”, Former Car Name “Cabarton”, Built by Budd in 1950, Remodeled to Staff Car #202 in October 1972; named "Cabarton" in 1980; remodeled to Crew Car UPP #202 "Cabarton" in 1989; named "Willie James" in January 2009. The support staff for special train operations uses UPP #202 as a center of operations, and the car is typically found at the front of the train. A dining room/lounge area and a large kitchen provide meal service to all special train crew members, which can include up to 40 people for a meal. The car name was changed from "Cabarton" to "Willie James" in January 2009 to honor long-time business car chef Willie James. James started his railroad career as a business car chef in 1984 with Union Pacific Railroad in Spring, Texas, a suburb of Houston. He was transferred to Omaha in 1999 and held the same position throughout his career. James has worked on all of Union Pacific’s Heritage Fleet dining cars over the years, though his favorite car to prepare meals on was the Cabarton. The "Cabarton" name was given to newly remodeled Crew Car #202 in 1980 by UP president John Kenefick in honor of R.L. Richmond, Union Pacific's then vice president of operations. Richmond's father began his railroad career as a Union Pacific carman in Cabarton, Idaho. Cabarton is the name of a siding about 60 miles north of Boise on UP's Idaho Northern Branch. The town was named for C.A. Barton, general manager of the Boise & Payette Lumber Company in the early 1920s. Stainless steel construction. Configured as Crew Car, with 4 bedrooms, dining, and lounge facilities for crew members.
