Description:  Niles Canyon Railroad Museum - built by Skagit Steel & Iron Works, MAC Division, January, 1926. B-B (Only rear truck powered) / diesel-hydraulic / 21 tons. Built new as Longview, Portland and Northern Railway #20, Longview, WA; Trona Railway #22, Trona, CA; Acquired by California Western Railroad in 1941 as #M200, Fort Bragg, CA; Acquired, unserviceable, by PLA, July 1975; Restored to service 1977.

Pacific Locomotive Association #1218
Title:  Pacific Locomotive Association #1218
Description:  Niles Canyon Railroad Museum - the former SP #1051 was built in 1955, it was most recently operated by Foster Farms, at Burrel, California, they donated the locomotive to PLA in 2002. Although originally painted in the tiger stripe scheme, PLA plans to restore this historical locomotive, the last SP Alco to operate in California, as the 1218, and paint it in the gray and red SP scheme.

Western Pacific #918-D
Title:  Western Pacific #918-D
Description:  Niles Canyon Railroad Museum - serial #8973, built on January 27, 1950. #918 is one of 48 F7's ordered by WP (24 "A" units and 24 "B" units). #918-D met her end on the Western Pacific on March 30, 1981 while heading eastbound over Altmont pass. She was the trailing unit of the San Jose Turn and her main electrical cabinet caught on fire. Before much could be done, most of the wiring in the cabinet was in ruins. After being deemed "uneconomical to repair", she was unceremoniously parked next to the Stockton roundhouse to be used as a parts source for the 2 other F units still on the WP roster. A member of the Pacific Locomotive Association (Jim Evans) wrote the WP and asked for the donation of an F unit. We were offered this one as the other 2 (917 and 921) were still in service (the 913 having been donated to the CSRM in 1981). Never being afraid to accept a challenge or blissfully unaware of severity of her condition, the club decided to accept the 918 on December 1, 1981).

Southern Pacific #1487
Title:  Southern Pacific #1487
Description:  Niles Canyon Railroad Museum - This locomotive was acquired in March, 1995 through the Department of General Services Surplus Property Program, which allows non-profit museums to obtain government surplus property. This engine was formerly U.S. Army #1856, based at Hawthorne, Nevada. Identical first generation locomotives of this type were purchased by the Southern Pacific, and were based almost exclusively in the San Francisco Bay Area. In the early 1950's, H-12-44's worked side-by-side with #2472 and other SP steam. They lasted until the mid 1970's. The FM diesel has been painted to replicate SP locomotive #1487, black overall with orange tiger stripes. The distinctive ash can oscillating headlights and number boards that were common to SP locomotives have been added as well.
